Greetings to you I am Gamal Hasan (my first name is pronounced “Jamal”). I am a Muslim African-American living in California. In prosaic terms, I guess I would be considered a Moderate. Most of what has influenced me in my life has come from living and breathing the way of life, Islam. Either by those influences from direct Islamic sources, growing up amongst giants in the movement of Islam in America, or purely experiencing the World through the eyes of a Muslim, my cosmology, my world view, is to enjoy all that Allah has created in all its beauty, wonder and mystery..... I believe that humanity is one and that all men are brothers..... I believe that it is wrong to kill the innocent and a sin to remain silent while the innocent are murdered..... I believe that if Allah wanted us to all to be the same, He would have created us all the same..... I believe it is noble to speak truth to power..... I believe that the only things of this world that you take with you are the things that you give away..... I believe that it is wrong to pass the color purple in a field and not enjoy it (a nod to Sister Alice Walker)..... I believe that Allah revealed his word for me personally and you personally..... I believe that scholarship is for everyone and that all knowledge is unclaimed inherited property of those who believe in God!
